If you want a unique experience that mixes beauty, peace and good coffee, you have to do this.
It all starts at 5:00 in the morning. From the Utz Tzaba hotel, where I was staying, a driver picked us up and took us to a dock where we boarded a boat.
The lagoon wakes up

We sailed for 20 minutes before reaching the middle of the lagoon. The fishermen are already there, having started their work before dawn.
With the first rays of sunlight, the birds start to appear. In an instant, the place becomes the stage for a dance of birds. There are the pelicans, the herons and the ducks, flying or swimming all around us.
The colors that appear are like a unique painting that grows more intense with every passing minute. To enjoy this show, our guide offers us coffee with cookies.
You don’t know where to look with so much beauty around this lagoon. On one side, the sunrise; on the other, the three volcanoes (Agua, Fuego and Acatenango). The result is a combination of colors and landscapes that makes you think…
What a wonder nature is!

A walk through the mangrove

Once the sun rises over the horizon, we head toward the mangrove. It’s a unique coastal ecosystem, made up of trees called mangroves that have learned to live in extreme conditions.
It’s 7:30 a.m. when we get back. It’s a magical experience that I fully recommend. If you’ve ever dreamed of being inside a movie, this is what it feels like.
